NISSAN

2023 Nissan Z Performance M/T: power and beauty

I’ve been wanting to try the new one for a while. Nissan Z 2023 and luckily, a couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to test it for 7 days, during which I really enjoyed driving this vehicle.

The 2023 Nissan Z is a sports car offered in three trim levels: Sport, Performance, y Proto Spec. The Sport starts at $40,990, the Proto Spec at $53,990, and the Performance, the level provided by Nissan for this review, has a base price of $50,990.

Mechanical and fuel economy...This vehicle is powered by a 24-valve DOHC 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, which produces 400 horsepower @6400 rpm and 350 pound-feet of torque @1600-52o0 rpm. Also, this model we tested is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The rear-wheel drive Performance trim can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 155 miles per hour (250 kilometers per hour).

Also, for every 100 miles or so it consumes 5 gallons of gasoline.

Exterior...The 2023 Nissan Z Performance has an elegant and aggressive exterior design that attracts the eyes of many, something that I saw repeatedly in the seven days that I tested it. Its long hood, short roof, and wide stance give this vehicle a classic sports car look. The front is dominated by a large grille and swept-back headlights.

The side profile is characterized by its pronounced wheel arches and muscular wings. The rear features a ducktail spoiler and LED taillights.

The Z Performance is available in a variety of colors, including Brilliant Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, Ikazuchi Yellow, Seiran Pearl Blue, and Diamond White Tri-Coat. This one we tested was two-tone: Everest Tri-coat White and Super Black.

This vehicle offers a number of exterior features designed to improve performance and aerodynamics, such as a carbon fiber rear spoiler, a front splitter and side skirts, both also in carbon fiber.

Interior...If the exterior has an attractive style, the interior is not far behind. When I opened the driver’s side door for the first time, the surprise was even greater. The interior is also two-tone, in blue and black colors.

The 2023 Nissan Z Performance has a well-made, elegant interior, although it is only for two people since it does not have a second row of seats. The driver and passenger seats are very comfortable, well reinforced and both are upholstered in leather, with synthetic suede inserts.

The driver’s seat is electric with 4 adjustment positions, manual elevator, lumbar and thigh support. The passenger seat, also electric, offers 4 adjustment positions. Both seats offer heating.

The steering wheel is wrapped in premium leather with the Nissan Z logo, while the gear shift knob and parking brake lever are also wrapped in leather.

As for the cargo area, as you may be imagining, it is not very large, it only has 6.9 cubic feet.

Starting with the driver information center, it has fully digital gauges that are seen on a 12.3-inch screen, which can be customized thanks to 3 different modes: Normal, Sport and Enhanced.

As you can see, several driver assistance technologies that come standard.

Driving...The 2023 Nissan Z Performance is a sports car that once you drive it leaves a great feeling. Starting from a very powerful twin-turbo V6 engine that offers a significant improvement compared to the 3.7-liter V6 of the previous generation. This engine offers more than great acceleration, giving more than is necessary to pass other vehicles on the road and without much effort. This engine spares no power anytime you need it.

Driving this Nissan Z is a lot of fun as it has a well balanced chassis. Its direction is very precise and it responds perfectly to any sudden request. Regarding the suspension, we can say that it offers a good balance between performance and comfort, absorbing the imperfections of the pavement very well.

The Nissan Z comes with a few pounds more than the previous generation, but it doesn’t feel heavy to drive, on the contrary, it responds well entering corners and from the very beginning that one starts driving this vehicle offers the necessary confidence to take any curve without fear of making an unexpected move.

Something that still has me intrigued are the brakes, too soft for my taste. In general, the brakes are precise, although an adjustment would not hurt at this point as well. I was not very convinced by the manual transmission of this Z Performance either, its changes are not as short as they should be for a vehicle of these characteristics or at least for my taste.

Despite the two previous observations, I really liked the 2023 Nissan Z Performance and as I mentioned before, it is a lot of fun to drive, whether in the city with traffic or on the highway and especially when it is winding.

2023 Nissan Z Performance M/T

Conclusion...He Nissan Z Performance 2023 It’s a great sports car with a combination of power, style and modern technology that positions it well in its segment. Its twin-turbo V6 engine offers powerful performance, while its elegant design, both inside and out, makes it an attractive vehicle.

Despite certain areas of improvement, such as the brakes and manual transmission, this sports car offers an exhilarating and comfortable driving experience, backed by a robust infotainment system and a suite of driver assistance and safety technologies.

This Nissan Z Performance is a vehicle to take into account when deciding to buy a sports car in this price range.
