S2000R Evasive Motorsports: the even more radical version of the mythical Honda S2000
The mythical Honda S2000 left production in 2009, but it is still alive in the memory of many aficionados, thanks mainly to its VTEC engine, although the question always remained as to why there never was an even more radical Type R version.
For many, the Honda S2000 did not need a Type R version, but we already know that there are always those who are never satisfied with what comes from the factory, as is the case of the company Evasive Motorsports, which decided to create its own sports version.
The American expert wanted to inject the model with Type R character, and the best way to do that would be by installing a Type R engine, although purists would no doubt scream aloud for such an offence.
In place of the original aspirated 2.0-liter F20 engine of the S2000, with 241 hp of power, Evasive mounted a K20 turbo block from a Civic Type R of the previous generation, with a greater power figure and a more forceful response.
This engine swap also includes a Mugen carbon fiber intake, an Evasive-specific intake manifold, a new 'downpipe' for the exhaust and a MoTec M140 ECU, for example. In its most basic version, this Evasive S2000R offers the same 310 hp of power as the Civic Type R, although the company has announced that it will offer improvements with greater power, but for now it has not detailed them.
For its part, the S2000 retains its original transmission, manual and 6-speed, while the limited-slip differential has been improved and a brake system with six-piston Brembo calipers with 356-millimeter diameter discs has been integrated, along with rear calipers. four pistons and a handbrake to measure.
The specialist also installed improved coilover shock absorbers with anti-roll bars and a cabin that features a MoTec digital display instead of analogue instrumentation, new Recaro seats, Alcantara upholstery and carbon fiber door moldings, among other things.
Lastly, the Evasive also includes a modest body kit that features a carbon fiber lip for the front splitter, flared fenders and lots of carbon fiber elements for the hood, trunk lid, as well as the imposing and eye-catching rear spoiler.
