AUTONEWS
Unpublished Audi A5 Avant in tests at Nurburgring
Two months ago we saw the new Audi A4 Avant, now we see the same car, only we are talking about the Audi A5 Avant. That’s how it is; Audi CEO Markus Duesmann has in the meantime confirmed the persistent rumor that the models with combustion engines will move to odd numbers if that is not already the case. This is done for more distinction between electrically powered Audis and Audis with fuel engines.
The Audi A4 is therefore one of the models that is undergoing a name change. With the next generation we talk about the A5 and that means that we see the Audi A5 Avant here. Audi S5 Avant As mentioned, the name change is one of the biggest changes, because Audi is once again going for an evolution of the existing design. Still, there are some external features that stand out: the Avant’s rear roofline seems to slope a bit more than it does with the current one, and the rear lights are also somewhat flatter in shape. At the front it seems that the grille and headlights are a bit lower in the nose.
Don’t expect a completely new basis for the A5 under the skin, but interesting new powertrains. After all, the A4 is not yet available as a plug-in hybrid and that will change with its successor. You can also count on sporty versions, including the S5, which, remarkably enough, we see in action in this photo series not on but just outside the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.
