SSANGYONG
Electric KG Mobility Torres EVX
Korea’s SsangYong Motor, which recently changed to KG Mobility, also premiered the Torres EVX electric crossover at the Seoul Mobility Fair.
The car was developed under the codename U100, while the name of the series model Torres EVX is a combination of the letters EV (electric vehicle) and X (eXtreme), which expresses its adventurous character.
The model looks different from its SUS-powered cousin, primarily due to a redesigned face that represents the evolution of the EV-specific “Powered by Toughness” design language. Among other things, a thin LED strip replaces the mask of an ordinary Torres with six illuminated points.
The bumper is also different for the EVX with the headlights set low on the side vents. The profile is identical to Torres with SUS engines with the exception of new aluminum wheels.
The car is 4715 mm long, 1890 mm wide and 1725 mm high, and has new alloy wheels up to 20 inches. Here is the information that the volume of the trunk is 839 liters.
The interior has also been modified with a new digital cockpit with two screens (12.3-inch each) and wood-style inserts on the front panel. The steering wheel is known from the version with SUS drive.
The company says the new dashboard “improves overall visibility” and describes the new EVX as more ergonomic.
The Torres EVX comes equipped with a single front-mounted electric motor producing 150 kW/204 PS and a 73.4 kWh battery, offering up to 500 km WLTP range. The drive is only on the front wheels.
Prices in South Korea start at around 37,900 US dollars (not including subsidies).
KG Mobility will sell Torres EVX in Europe as well, starting in the second half of the year.
