Rins, Luca Marini and Fabio Quartararo win at the Circuit of the Americas
Alex Rins(image above) consecrated his good weekend in the United States with the victory of the GP of the Americas, taking the hundredth podium for the LCR team in MotoGP in a race marked by the high number of crashes, including the reigning champion, Francesco Bagnaia.
For the second GP in a row, the Italian who won the world championship in 2022 went to the ground alone, losing a practically achieved victory. Rins didn't waste the chance and won easily managing the advantage over the second place, Luca Marini. Fabio Quartararo completed the podium.
The race was also marked by a significant number of falls: only 13 riders crossed the finish line - it is worth mentioning that the asphalt of the race track in Austin was the reason for complaints on Friday during free practice for the category.
With the sixth place of Bezzechi and the fall of Bagnaia, the leadership of the world championship belongs to the Team VR46 pilot by just one point of difference to the Italian: 54 x 53.
The start was marked by many falls, Jorge Martin lost his balance, fell alone and in the 'slip' of the fall, he ended up hitting Alex Márquez. The Spaniard had to be supported, clearly limping. A little later, Aleix Espargaró also went to the ground alone.
With that, Jack Miller jumped to third position and Fabio Quartararo to fourth. Up front, Francesco Bagnaia managed to hold Alex Rins' 'attack mode' well. On lap seven, Miller took to the floor for his sixth crash of the weekend. Who took advantage was the French Yamaha who inherited a place on the podium at that time.
