Electrified Maserati Grecale Folgore presented at the Shanghai Motor Show
Just over a year has passed since the debut of the Maserati Grecale, the mid-size SUV from the Tridente brand, available both with conventional gasoline engines and in the Folgore version, 100% electric. The latter has just been presented at the 2023 Shanghai Motor Show, and all the technical details have already been announced.
Although we already knew its design and the platform on which it is manufactured (the Giorgio of Alfa Romeo origin, but adapted to accommodate batteries), there was still a lot of information to know about the new Maserati Grecale Folgore, although for now there is no release date. nor prices, let's go to the details.
Starting with the engine, or rather the engines, the Grecale Folgore uses a 205 kW propeller for each axle, with a combined power of 410 kW or 557 hp, which makes it the most powerful version of the Grecale line, with 27 additional hp compared to the 530 hp Grecale Trofeo.
The system's torque tops out at 820 Nm, which isn't bad at all, and the performance figures are more than respectable, especially for an SUV approaching 2.5 tonnes. The Folgore accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and can reach a limited top speed of 220 km/h.
The battery pack that powers the two electric motors, installed under the vehicle's floor, operates at 400 volts, has a capacity of 105 kWh and allows for a WLTP range of 500 kilometers. In addition, it can recharge a maximum of 150 kW with direct current, in which case the charge goes from 20 to 80% in about 29 minutes, and can gain 100 kilometers of autonomy in 9 minutes.
Maserati has equipped its electric SUV with four driving modes, which can be selected via a steering wheel control and called Max Range, GT, Sport and Offroad. These modes alter the response of the engines, air suspension and steering. In the case of Max Range, which is activated automatically when the battery charge drops below 16%, the speed is limited to 130 km/h and also reduces the power of the climate control.
Inside there are almost no differences, apart from the specific instrumentation for electric vehicles, so that it has sports seats, Econyl upholstery, a configuration with a 12.3-inch dual screen, an 8.8-inch climate control screen, a Head-Up Display and a compatible multimedia system. with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Regarding aesthetics, the details that differentiate the Folgore from other Grecale versions are the absence of exhaust outlets, the aerodynamic wheels (from 19 to 21 inches), the inserts in a glossy black tone on the front grille and the details in copper green color for example.
