GV80 Coupe Concept...Genesis unveiled the GV80 Coupe concept at an exclusive event at Genesis House New York. The four-passenger GV80 Coupe concept adds a new dimension to the Genesis brand. “It emphasizes the duality of the Genesis brand by showing an antagonistic character that lives within the Athletic and Elegance parameters of the Genesis design philosophy,” said Luke Donkervolke, Group Chief Creative Officer.

Inspired by the X Speedium Coupe Concept unveiled in New York last year, the GV80 Coupe Concept combines the practicality of a lifestyle-oriented SUV with the dynamics of a sports car. It’s a statement of intent for more emotional, performance-oriented models and an announcement of Genesis’ future lineup.

“In its beginnings, the Genesis brand began to create luxury sedans, which evolved into the G70, G80 and G90,” said Luke Donkervolke. “Over the past seven years, we have added more lifestyle-oriented models to the portfolio, such as our GV80 and GV70 SUVs. Now we’re pushing the envelope with more emotional cars that elevate Genesis’ performance and dynamic attributes.”

The front fascia of the Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept features a Double G-Matrix patterned grille surrounded by quad headlights, which have evolved to flawless lighting performance.

Genesis’ rear-wheel-drive platform provides the foundation for the concept’s long hood and generous proportions. These refined proportions are further emphasized by the parabolic line, with fenders that contrast with the vehicle’s elegant silhouette.

The front fender bears a “Designed by Genesis” plaque that emphasizes the exclusive character of the Genesis model, while five-spoke aluminum wheels and a carbon fiber roof – which contribute to the GV80 Coupe Concept’s dynamic driving qualities by lowering the center of gravity and reducing weight – emphasize the vehicle’s sporty character.

To further enhance driving dynamics, the vehicle’s optimized aerodynamic fluidity is complemented by an upper rear spoiler and an elliptical concave ducktail spoiler lip, which provides increased downforce. The taillights complete the Two Lines signature on the rear.

The model’s bold design is also emphasized by its Magma exterior color, which is inspired by the brand’s distinctly Korean ethos. While describing the color, Donkervolke said, “The color symbolizes Korea’s confident and passionate attitude. There is a calm, efficient, disciplined and unassuming first impression that soon contrasts with a high performance and extroverted attitude.”

The interior of the GV80 Coupe Concept is a contrast between Genesis’ elegant Beauty of White Space philosophy and athletic attributes. The three-spoke steering wheel plays an important role in emphasizing the sporty character of the Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept’s interior, which contrasts with black Nappa and suede leather with checkered double stitching, carbon fiber details on functional surfaces.

The four seats provide excellent body support during cornering, contributing to passenger safety and comfort, while the body-colored carbon fiber backrest further emphasizes the extrovert character of the GV80 Coupe concept.

The GV80 Coupe Concept confirms Genesis’ commitment and ambition to deliver innovative luxury products with bold, emotional resonance.
