BENELLI
Tornado 402 presented in China
The Italian brand Benelli has presented its latest offering, the Tornado 402, which will be manufactured in China by its parent company Qianjiang. While part of the development and design is still done in Italy, most of the company’s motorcycles are now made in China.
The name Tornado is traditionally associated with sports models in this brand, and the new Tornado 402 is no exception. This fully equipped sports bike has a 400cc engine that is likely to appeal to many triathlon riders.
While it would have been logical for Benelli to adopt the existing 400cc twin unit powered by Qianjiang or QJ Motor, the Tornado 402 instead comes with a new unit that produces 48PS at 10,000rpm. That makes it currently the most powerful QJ twin engine of this cubicle.
One significant technological feature of the Tornado 402 is the built-in camera that records traffic conditions and is built into the windshield(image above). The recording can be recorded on a smartphone using the application and is automatically recorded. This feature is not only useful for documenting the smell, but also for safety and security during travel.
The Asia version has an aluminum single-sided rear fork and a tubular steel frame with a non-adjustable inverted telescopic fork at the front and an adjustable shock absorber at the rear, both supplied by Marzocchi. Nissin provides the braking system, which includes two 300mm discs at the front and a 250mm disc at the rear, along with ABS as standard equipment.
