Europe-exclusive Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT revealed
Shelby has unveiled its Ford Mustang Mach-E GT package, available exclusively in the European market, with production limited to 100 cars to mark Carroll Shelby's 100th birthday. Its name is simple, Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT, and the changes made to it from a regular Mach-E GT are also relatively small in scope.
Shelby did nothing to improve the Mach-E GT's straight-line performance, opting instead to improve the car's handling and appearance. Thus, the electric SUV “seats” on new springs that reduce ground clearance by 25 mm, while the rims, painted in satin black, are new and lighter.
The Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT features several carbon elements to reduce weight. More specifically, there's a carbon hood, carbon grille, carbon mirror caps, while the door liners are also made from carbon.
Moving on, Shelby installs Borla's "Active Performance Sound System", designed specifically for the Mustang Mach-E GT. This is an external speaker system developed by Borla to mimic the engine and exhaust noise you would hear from a traditional Shelby Mustang, as you can see in the video below.
Other changes to the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT include company logos and emblems, vinyl decals, Shelby floor mats, and a numbered console license plate.
Shelby says the complete package costs €24,900 and first deliveries will start in July. As for why it's limited to Europe only, Aaron Shelby, board member of Carroll Shelby International and grandson of the company's founder, said: We chose to initially offer the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT in Europe only because EV sales are growing much faster there than in the US. And from 2016 to 2021, the number of public EV charging stations increased by 431% across Europe. It makes good business sense for Shelby American.
