BMW M presents an all-electric performance model to lead the new range of the new 7 Series. The BMW i7 M70 xDrive is the most powerful model with an all-electric drive system in the entire BMW Group portfolio.
Equipped with electric motors on the front and rear axles that generate a maximum system power of 485 kW/660 PS and 1100 Nm, the BMW i7 M70 xDrive provides the perfect combination of electric mobility and performance, resulting in a driving experience unique in the luxury segment.
The top model of the new BMW 7 Series accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, making it the fastest fully electric BMW model (despite its weight of 2,689 kg). The maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
Producing the most power ever for an all-electric car from the BMW Group, the BMW i7 M70 xDrive marks another milestone for BMW M GmbH in its electric mobility transformation.
The BMW i7 M70 uses a 101.7 kW battery, while the range according to factory announcements is 488-560 km (WLTP).
There is also a new “Max Range” mode, which limits top speed to 90 km/h and deactivates comfort elements, including climate control, heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel.
With the fast charger, BMW says charging the batteries from 10 to 80 percent takes up to 34 minutes.
In line with the powerful drivetrain is the adaptive air suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers and automatic self-levelling.
There’s also active steering, a brake system with blue M-Sport calipers, 20- and 21-inch wheels, M side skirts, M logos with decorative edges on the front side panels, M Shadowline elements, black M mirrors, as well as the optional M Performance Professional package. (black M rear spoiler, black accent strip between taillights and black rear bumper insert).
Other notable additions include two-tone exterior options with over 100 special BMW Individual colors.
There is also BMW’s new 8.5 operating system which is inspired by consumer electronics to improve the menu structure and offers “QuickSelect” shortcuts for ease of use.
BMW M’s new all-electric performance model made its global debut in Shanghai. It will be produced at the BMW Group Dingolfing plant, along with all other variants of the luxury sedan model.
The worldwide launch of the BMW i7 M70 xDrive starts in the second half of 2023, and the price will be announced later.
