MASERATI MC20 GT2 RACECAR SE PREPARA PARA ESTREAR EM JUNHO

MC20 GT2: the new super sports car will make its official debut at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps

At the beginning of August 2022, Maserati announced its return to competition in the GT2 category with its new super sports car, and now the Italian manufacturer has offered more information about the car.

The new Maserati MC20 GT2 will make its official debut in competition next June at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, in Belgium, although the car has already been on circuit when participating in the so-called 'shakedown' at Autodromo Varano de Melegari, in Italy . It should be noted that this is not the first time that Maserati participates in GT2, as its MC12 competed in the GT2 Championship between 2004 and 2010.

The Italian manufacturer guarantees that the launch of this car is “the precursor of a series of events” that will take place over the next three months, in order to warm up the engines for the debut of its monster with a V6 engine in racing.

Like the street model, this MC20 GT2 hides the house's V6 Nettuno engine under its skin, which, as we know, is a 3.0-liter biturbo petrol engine with technology inherited from Formula 1. of the engine, Maserati claimed it took it “to a higher level”.

Furthermore, we know that for the racing version the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission was dispensed with, in favor of a 6-speed sequential gearbox, designed for competition applications.

Maserati also fitted a racing suspension, with adjustable dampers and anti-roll bars, as well as an adjustable rear spoiler and cabin elements such as a racing steering wheel with fins, roll bars, a carbon dashboard and a 10-inch screen. for the driver.

We hope to know more details soon about the performance of the 3.0 V6 Nettuno in this competition application, since in its street version it offers a power of 630 hp at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 730 Nm between 3,000 and 5,500 rpm.

The street model, which in Europe has a price of 250,000 euros approximately, is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 325 km/h, but for now we do not know the performance of the GT2 version.
