Nissan Sylphy 2024: the twin brother of the Nissan Sentra
The Nissan Sentra has a twin in China, el Sylphy. This week its update for the Chinese market was presented, with some innovations in design and technology. Its renewal leaves the path that the next Sentra update will follow in our region.
Externally, the Sylphy updates its appearance in the style of the Versa and Altima, with vertical air intakes on the sides and a larger grille, highlighted by new chrome decorations. There are also subtle touches to the rear bumper, LED taillights and the introduction of the new Nissan logo.
Inside, it is likely that the most equipped versions will debut an infotainment system with a 12.3-inch screen. The renovation is much more subtle on the inside. It keeps the dashboard design intact, but adopts a new infotainment system, now with a larger screen. It is available with different color combinations for the upholstery.
In China, the Nissan Sylphy is offered in two configurations: a basic 135hp 1.6-liter engine with CVT transmission and an e-POWER version with a 138hp electric motor, powered by a 1.2-liter generator engine.
Since the Sylphy and Sentra shared the exact same design before, it looks like the facelift of the Nissan Sentra will be identical to what we see on the Sylphy today, perhaps with slight variations in wheel design and color palette.
As for engines, the Nissan Sentra should retain its current engine: a 2.0-liter block of 150 hp, with manual or automatic CVT transmission. It will not be surprising if in the near future an e-POWER version is also introduced here, although for the time being it has not been confirmed.
There is no exact date for the introduction of this update for the Nissan Sentra, but taking into account that the Versa and Altima have already been renewed, the facelift of the Sentra should be ready during the same year.
