FÓRMULA-1

Ford ready to return to Formula 1

Rumors of Ford's return to Formula 1 are intensifying, with an official announcement seemingly just hours away.

The information is from the BBC, citing information from the Italian news agency ANSA, which mistakenly published the official announcement before withdrawing it minutes later. The American automaker has partnered with Red Bull, and will help finance the development of new power units for the Austrian team, which will use its cars from 2026.

If this is confirmed, it will mean the return of Ford to Formula 1 since 2004, when it sold Jaguar to Red Bull. The expectation is that the latter will make the official announcement of the partnership in a few hours in New York, during the presentation of the car that will run in 2023, the RB19.

So from 2026, Red Bull and Alpha Tauri cars will run on Ford-branded engines, with the deal including funding and technical information for naming rights.
