MH4 GTR II: basis of preparation of the limited edition BMW M4 CSL
GTR is the letter combination of an abbreviation promising for many engine and tuning aficionados, as it stands for Gran Turismo Racing. Of course, Manhart has used this term on many occasions to designate some of its most spectacular creations. The MH4 GTR II is a magnificent example.
The basis of the preparation is a BMW M4 CSL, limited to 1,000 units. While the 'normal' M4 Competition, which can also serve as a basis for the MH4 GTR II, delivers 510 hp and 650 Nm, the CSL is even better with 550 hp ex-factory.
Thanks to the use of an MHtronik internal auxiliary control unit, Manhart boosts the 3.0-litre S58 in-line 6-cylinder engine with two turbochargers up to a spectacular 702 hp of power and 880 Nm of torque.
In addition, Manhart offers a proprietary stainless steel exhaust system with four 110mm tubes (either carbon or ceramic coated). These connect to the block via Manhart Race straight sections without a catalytic converter or Manhart Sport downpipes with 300-cell GESI catalysts.
However, due to the lack of official homologation in Germany (TÜV), both versions are destined exclusively for export, as well as the rounded Manhart OPF Delete replacement tubes with 200-cell HJS catalysts.
Manhart offers individual brake system upgrades upon customer request to accommodate increased horsepower. From a visual point of view, the MH4 GTR based on the G82 is also distinguished by several refinements, starting with the lower ground clearance, which is due to the optimization of the suspension that includes H&R height-adjustable coil springs.
Last but not least, it also ensures that the new Forged 1 by Yido Performance light-alloy wheels are perfectly aligned in the wheel arches. The 20-inch wheels wear tires measuring 275/30 at the front and 295/30 at the rear. Wheel color can be individually configured on request. In this case, matte black with a double lightning bolt accented in orange red was chosen.
In addition, it features a body finish in black paint with the typical Manhart characteristic, which in this case is finished in orange red. These color decorative stripes also accent various components of the 18-piece Manhart carbon body kit: which includes a hood with GTR air intakes, a spoiler and side aerofoils for the front end, side blades on the spoiler, side skirts, blades two-piece rear side panels, a diffuser, a two-piece rear spoiler insert and a three-piece rear spoiler.
The interior is enriched with Manhart mats and 4-point Schroth competition harnesses, whose rear attachment points are formed by a Clubsport safety bar. Lastly, the MH4 GTR II comes with a carbon fiber competition helmet for speed racing.
