NIO EL7: an alternative to premium electric cars like the BMW iX, Mercedes-Benz EQE
NIO Motors continues to develop its offer of electric models on the European continent. The Chinese brand is already in a position to add a third model to its lineup for the Old Continent, a perfect complement to the ET5 and ET7 that are already sold, but it is a model that is not completely new, as it is already sold in China since last July.
NIO has chosen to change the brand name for this new market, so that the ES7 sold in China will be called the EL7 in Europe. The new NIO EL7 is positioned as an alternative to Premium EVs such as the BMW iX, Mercedes-Benz EQE and the renewed Audi Q8 e-tron, with very similar dimensions that allow it to stand out as a top of the line, while at the same time it offers a very livable interior space for the only five seats it offers, but with a large volume of cargo in the boot.
As for the measurements of the new NIO ELT, the SUV measures 4,910 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, 1,720 mm in height, has a wheelbase of 2,960 mm and a trunk that accommodates 658 liters.
This third all-electric model follows the same aesthetic standard that characterizes the brand, with a very futuristic style, especially at the front, where the slim headlights with Full LED technology integrated into the edge of the hood predominate, while the main functions are found in a accommodation at the ends of the large bumper. Shod on with large 20-inch light-alloy wheels, the profile stands out for its square wheel arches and electric door handles, as well as for the pillars and the roof panel itself painted in glossy black.
At the rear, the taillights extend into a very thin piece occupying the lid transversely arranged in an inverted 'L' shape. A very attractive design to convince the Germans of a change in their mobility, which is accompanied by a more than technological interior. The NIO EL7 has two digital screens, for the instrument panel and for the multimedia system, occupying the center console with 12.8 inches. On the panel, a camera awaits the orders of the voice assistant 'Nomi Mate'.
The NIO EL7 has complete equipment as standard, with electric front seats, with memory function, climate control and massage function, while the rear seats have heating. But it also stands out for its advanced 'Aquila' driving assistance systems, with eleven cameras, twelve ultrasonic sensors and as many radar sensors plus the LiDAR that are located on the windshield, on the edge of the roof panel, so that it offers level 3 autonomous driving functions.
The new electric SUV will feature the second generation of the Chinese brand's propulsion system, providing more power and efficiency. Only one version has all-wheel drive with two electric motors, the front with 180 kW and the rear with 300 kW, generating a total maximum power of 653 hp and a maximum torque of 850 Nm, with which it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
