TOYOTA

TOYOTA CROWN: UMA MISTURA ENTRE SEDAN E SUV QUE SÓ TERÁ MOTORES HÍBRIDOS

Crown 2023: the sedan mixed with a very interesting SUV

Perhaps some will remember that a few years ago Honda tried to market the Crosstour, which basically merged a sedan with an SUV. The proposal was interesting, but very advanced for its time, so it did not last long in the market. Years later, Toyota takes up this concept again, because with the catastrophic fall of sedans, it is now worth mixing styles. Thus, the Japanese brand presents its Toyota Crown 2023.

In Brazil, the large sedan segment disappeared a long time ago. In the United States it still survives with very few participants, as it has become more than clear that the consumer wants SUVs and crossovers. That's why Toyota decided to discontinue the Avalon and replace it with the Crown.

The Toyota Crown maintains a very clear sedan aesthetic, a fastback drop at the rear and proportions more similar to those of this type of car. However, when we look at their wheel arches and contours, we see a slightly greater height than the traditional one in such a segment, in addition to the classic black plastic contour so characteristic of SUVs to give them that 'adventurous touch' that they boast so much.

Headlights, taillights and even the double-tone bodywork tell us about a strong inspiration in models like the BZ4X, the brand's electric crossover.

The Crown's interior is remarkably attractive, boasting 12.3-inch screens for both the infotainment and instrument cluster. It also has automatic air conditioning, glass roof, induction mobile charger, JBL audio system, synthetic leather upholstery, electrically adjustable seats and heating, among other elements.

Toyota informs that all Crowns will have the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 system integrated with the latest updates and improvements such as: autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitor, lane keeping, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, among other things.

Mechanically, the Toyota Crown will have two hybrid engines. The first is composed of a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine that will produce a total of 240 hp. The hybrid system will be composed of two electric motors which will give it the ability to have AWD traction, mainly receiving power on the rear axle thanks to the electric system. Its estimated consumption is 17.8 km/l in the city.

The other mechanic is composed of a 4-cylinder, 2.4-liter turbo engine that also supports two electric motors and can reach up to 340 hp. In addition to accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. However, a greater amount of power will reduce its efficiency, estimating a consumption of 12 km/l in the city.
