SEMA SHOW 2022

UM PORSCHE 911 GT3 COM MOTOR STI DA SUBARU FOI APRESENTADO NO SEMA SHOW

911 GT3 'STI': the Porsche with Subaru boxer engine

The SEMA Show is known for presenting the wildest preparations out there, and this 2022 edition would be no exception. This boxer-engined Porsche 911 GT3 'STI' from Subaru is one of the biggest crazes that have come out so far, but we know it won't be to the taste of the most purists.

Built by DevSpeed Motorsports in collaboration with Eneos, this car started its life as a 2007 Porsche 911 GT3.

Except for the bodywork, almost everything is new. Of course, the star of the show is the engine. An in-line 4-cylinder EJ25 boxer from a 2008 Impreza STI, updated with a new BorgWarner turbo, along with better fuel injectors, a high-performance intercooler, and a custom exhaust system. Power reaches the rear wheels via the 6-speed transmission of an STI. As a result, the engine generates an estimated power of 550 hp and, in addition, weighs 77 kg less than the 911 with the original 6-cylinder engine, according to Eneos.

The body panels are also enlarged replicas of the GT3 R from a UK company called VAD Design. They're wide enough to protect the giant 19-inch Rotiform wheels shod with Toyo Proxies R888R tires. Behind them are BC Racing's adjustable elastic springs.

The interior of the GT3 STI features a streamlined cabin with a basic dashboard, a modern steering wheel, individual carbon fiber seats and a CNC-bent safety cage. There is also an air system to quickly raise and lower the car.

Surely many will think that this GT3 should have been fully restored to its original time to return to its former glory. But nowadays there are many standard GT3's out of the box, and it's not very often to see one as modified as this one. Also, it will probably sell out quickly.
