Voyager X2: The company's electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft appear in real test video (video below)

An electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft is due to be demonstrated in the air in the near future by Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng. Often these projects can't go beyond creating a conceptual model, but in the case of Voyager X2, it looks like the public debut will take place before the end of October.

Voyager X2 was developed by Chinese startup HT Aero, owned by XPeng. Last week, the UAE's Khaleej Times published an article indicating that a public demonstration flight of the model will take place at the Gitex Global 2022 exhibition, which will be held from October 10-14 in Dubai.

It is worth noting that the video published in July already saw a prototype or a large-scale model making a short flight. Although the video begins with an image of XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng climbing into the cockpit, the flight appears to have taken place without a pilot.

The current version of the two-seater eVTOL has a carbon fiber body and eight rotors, two for each frame element. The length of the model is 4.97 m, width - 4.78 m, height - 1.36 m, although with the frame folded the width can be reduced to 1.83 m. At the same time, the novelty weighs only 560 kg and has a maximum weight. outside the weight of 760 kg.

The Voyager X2 model is expected to be capable of flying at speeds of up to 130 km/h at an altitude of 1000 m and can work up to 35 on a single charge. Other features include the possibility of autonomous flight, the use of radar and obstacle avoidance systems, as well as an automatic parachute for added safety.

XPeng hopes to begin "small deliveries" of the Voyager X2 in 2024, according to a recent Cnevpost post. The company continues to increase its skills. XPeng recently launched the Tesla-level G9 electric crossover with autopilot, the most expensive in the manufacturer's electric vehicle lineup.
