Automotive giant is launching the van Hiace in Brazil, but only in the rental system
Toyota is launching the Hiace van in Brazil. However, the model will not be sold in the country. According to the brand, the van is available through the Kinto Share rental service. Initially, this option will only be offered by Collection Motors, a dealership in downtown São Paulo. According to the company, prices start from R$75 per hour and R$499 per day.
As per information from Kinto, for now Hiace is only available in the Premium version. That is, with six seats and intended for executive transport. However, the company also targets families. Among the highlights, the two seats in the second row have electrical adjustments and legrests.
The Hiace is not the first commercial vehicle offered by Kinto. The Hilux SRX pickup with double cabin, 4x4 traction and automatic transmission was already available in Brazil. Prices are the same as for the van.
To access the service, you need to download an application on your cell phone. In addition to the vehicle, the contract includes insurance, 24-hour technical assistance, including travel. There is also Kinto One Personal, for new and used vehicle subscriptions. As well as Kinto Fleet, focused on outsourcing fleets.
Although Toyota does not confirm, it is possible that, in the future, the Hiace line will be sold in Brazil. Thus, the rental service can serve as a tool to test consumer interest. Even because, the company intends to produce the model in Argentina. In other words, it makes no sense to invest so much to serve only the neighboring country's market, which is much smaller than the Brazilian one.
Collaborating with this is the fact that Hiace shares several items with the Hilux line, which is made in Argentina. This is the case of the 2.8 turbodiesel engine with 163 hp and 43 mkg from 1,600 rpm. As well as the six-speed automatic transmission. For now, the model is imported from Japan.
The Van measures 5.3 meters in length, 1.99 m in width and 3.21 m in wheelbase. The curb weight is 2,705 kg and the total gross weight (PBT) is 3,490 kg. Therefore, it can be guided by drivers with a category "B" license.
It is worth noting that the van and van segment is expanding in Brazil. Mainly because of the advancement of e-commerce sales. As a result, there has been a broad growth in demand for delivery vehicles, especially in large urban centers.
Thus, the offer continues to grow. Among the options are larger models, such as the Fiat Ducato, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Renault Master lines. In addition to the Ford Transit, which has just returned in a new generation. In addition, there are smaller models. This is the case of Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Jumper, in addition to Fiat Scudo. The three are made on the same platform as the Stellantis Group, owner of these brands.
