964 CHI001 Theon Design

Britain's Theon Design specializes in classic Porsche 911s, their latest creation being the 964 called the CHI001, whose customer has ordered almost every possible modification and clearly loves the color purple.

Theon Design has digitized the body parts by 3D scanning the factory parts and, based on that, manufactures the new carbon cap parts, which are assembled into the completely renewed bodywork. Only the doors remain from the factory bodywork, as steel offers better side impact protection than the lightweight plastic door. The Viola Mettalic color is the same color used by the factory on the Porsche 911 30th Anniversary Limited Series, and also appears on the 17-inch Fuchs rims, with the side and rear lettering displayed in Royal Purple.

The Chilean customer wanted the maximum driving experience, so he also ordered an electro-hydraulic steering servo, butterfly valve exhaust system and active shock absorption from the company TracTrive. The latter refers to electronically controlled dampers, which are programmed based on decades of racing experience, the stiffness of the damping can be controlled, and vehicle level control (reduction of lateral bank in cornering) is also performed based on on the signal from a central multi-axis acceleration sensor.

The customer voted for an aspirated engine, the displacement of the air-cooled boxer has been increased to 4.0 liters, in addition to the 6-valve butterfly intake manifold, a lightweight flywheel is also used to improve the gas response, the power is 400 horsepower and 474 Nm, the carbon cover developed by Theon Design improves cooling. Although the starting point was a 964 Carrera 4, they got rid of all-wheel drive, the 6-speed manual transmission comes from the 993 successor, on which a partially self-locking Wavetrac differential was built. Deceleration has been entrusted to a carbon-ceramic brake system, the rear wing is active – it increases downforce at high speeds – and as many elements of the air conditioning system as possible have been integrated into the nose of the car to improve the distribution of torque. 

In the cabin, Porsche Royal Purple leather is dominant, the factory Recaro Club Sport seats and Touring rear seats, as well as the steering wheel and dashboard, have been upholstered with it, and the carbon elements of the latter have been upholstered with it. A magnetic wireless charger has even been installed, which keeps the gadget in place in the appropriate case, which integrates smart functions and can be used to control the hi-fi. They didn't say how much the Theon Design CHI001 costs, but they say they're asking £380,000 for the minimum package, and that doesn't include the base car or its refurbishment, and that construction will take at least 18 months. during which they constantly consult with the customer.
