PORSCHE 911 GT3 RS CRAVA O TEMPO DE 6:49.328 MINUTOS EM NÜRBURGRING

911 GT3 RS: completes the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in 6:49.328 minutes

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS completed the 20.8 kilometers on the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in 6:49.328 minutes - 10.6 seconds faster than the current 911 GT3. Behind the wheel was Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, who was intensively involved in the development of the new flagship of the 911 series. An official was present to witness the lap time.

The new 911 GT3 RS has been uncompromisingly designed to deliver maximum performance. The high-performance sports car with 525 hp makes the most of motorsport technology and concepts. In addition to the high-revving naturally aspirated engine with racing DNA and smart, lightweight construction, it's the cooling and aerodynamics concept in particular that proves its direct affinity with its motorsport brethren. At 285 km/h, the 911 GT3 RS achieves a total downforce of 860 kg - three times more than a 911 GT3.

“Today, the 911 GT3 RS delivered what it had promised at first glance – absolute excellence on the track,” says Andreas Preuninger, Director of GT Cars. “Considering the less than ideal conditions, with strong headwinds on the long straight of the Döttinger Höhe and cold asphalt temperatures, we are satisfied with this weather. The 911 GT3 RS is setting new standards in aerodynamics and chassis. Never before has a car homologated for public roads incorporated so many concepts from motorsport.”

The new 911 GT3 RS with the Weissach package was fitted with the optionally available Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, size 275/35 R20 at the front and 335/30 R21 at the rear.

The vehicle completed the lap on the old (shortest) circuit configuration in 6:44.848 minutes.

“We lost a little bit of downforce due to the strong wind, sometimes with gusts, but I'm still very happy with the comeback,” says Bergmeister. “In the fast sections in particular, the 911 GT3 RS is in a league of its own. Here it is at a level usually reserved for first-class racing cars. The car is also setting new standards in braking. Fast laps on the Nordschleife are just so much fun in this car.”

Frank Moser, vice president of the 911 and 718 model lines, was watching the quick turn from the pit wall: “I am incredibly proud of what the entire team has achieved during the development and testing of the new 911 GT3 RS,” he says. “Today Jörg Bergmeister has given his all and unleashed the car's full potential. The 911 may still surprise us and proves that the rear-engine concept is still extremely suitable for high-performance sports cars.”
