Miguel Oliveira celebra la victoria bajo el agua en el Gran Premio de Tailandia.

Miguel Oliveira takes the lead in Thailand, Quartararo still leading

The waterspout that had already stopped the Moto2 race, was about to ruin the show that we live in Thailand underwater. And in very difficult track conditions, the one who handled himself best was Miguel Oliveira(image above), who had already won the Indonesian race with similar characteristics, and who shows that he is a true specialist in water.

The Portuguese was the only one who tarnished the total Ducati party, which was on the podium with the two factory riders, but with the order changed. He is the only thing attributable to the team's strategy. Why didn't Miller let Bagnaia pass when victory was already out of reach? The Australian “stole” his teammate 4 points that would have given Pecco the lead.

The one who did do factory work was Johann Zarco, who came from behind and with his pace could have even opted for victory, but he preferred to stay behind the Ducati leader's wheel and not attack him.

In any case, Bagnaia and Ducati were the great beneficiaries of a day in which their rivals punctured. Aleix Espargaró, with a long lap penalty through, finished 11th, and Fabio Quartararo was shipwrecked in Thailand and finished 17th.

As for Marc Márquez, he came to dream of the podium, but finally finished 5th in his "best weekend of the year by far", the Repsol Honda rider explained his career afterwards to the DAZN microphone: "Solid race, I've had it taken quite calmly at the beginning because with this tire I had already had crashes in the past. Then I started to find a good rhythm. But I have reached Pecco, and I lost too much with him accelerating. I tried it in the last corner and I released the brakes because if I fell I would ruin the world championship for him”.

MOTOGP PODIUM STATEMENTS:

Miguel Oliveira: “It was a long race but I couldn't complain because every time we have had the opportunity to race in the wet it has gone well. I was trying not to make mistakes and take the bike to the finish line”.

Jack Miller: “I've been pushing hard, I didn't give up until the last lap. I lacked grip in the last sector, which was where Miguel was better. He has not failed and what he has done is not easy, with which I take my hat off. First things first, I'm not getting married at all."

Pecco Bagnaia: “I am very happy because it is my first podium in the wet and it tastes like victory. I want to congratulate Jack that before the victory he gave me a motivational speech ”
