XFC Concept: marks the new brand identity for the future
The Japanese brand has just unveiled the new Mitsubishi XFC Concept in the Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Min, a prototype that anticipates the production version of the aforementioned crossover, in principle intended only for Southeast Asian markets.
Unlike the Mitsubishi ASX, which was recently introduced to the European market and developed on the basis of the Renault Captur, the XFC will be Mitsubishi's own development. In terms of design, it stands out for its L-shaped LED headlights and integrated daytime running lights (the taillights have a similar shape), and for the backlit hexagons at the bottom of the front bumper. In addition, it incorporates cameras in place of conventional rear-view mirrors.
The cabin follows the current trend, with a dual panoramic screen configuration for the dashboard, although it maintains dedicated controls for the climate system, in this case through a capacitive touch panel. The steering wheel, for example, also displays hexagonal shapes in the spokes, matching other elements of the model.
Both the front and rear seats come with contrasting yellow accents, an option that was also used for the seams. According to the brand, this XFC Concept offers great habitability to its occupants and appears to have a completely flat floor.
Technical specifications have not yet been announced, in addition to some equipment news, such as a ‘Wet’ mode for driving on wet roads and several driving programs for mixed use: Normal, Gravel (gravel) and Mud (clay).
Of course, the future production version will be less flashy, probably without the curious lights, without the video cameras, without some of the tactile surfaces of the interior and without the huge 20-inch diameter wheels, which will have to be replaced by a game. a little more discreet and restrained.
The definitive model will be on sale between 2023 and 2024 in ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore, for example, although the brand has assured that, in case the model has the expected success, it will also may be offered in other markets.
