MASERATI
Italian sports car manufacturers in general, while not opposed to the transition to electric traction, are keen to maintain their reasonable pace, gradually abandoning the internal combustion engine. The Maserati brand promises to offer each of the new models in electric performance by 2025, but plans to completely ditch the internal combustion engine only until the end of the decade. Maserati's first all-electric coupe will be the GranTurismo Folgore coupe, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds.
According to The Verge, this dynamic will allow Maserati's first electric car to slightly outperform the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which breaks the 100 km/h mark in 2.8 seconds. However, Maserati's statements have not been confirmed by practical measurements - the company is in no rush to admit exactly when it will launch its first electric car. But it is already known that the GranTurismo Folgore will exist in two versions with a V-shaped six-cylinder engine equipped with two turbines. At the same time, the differences in appearance with the electric version of the coupe will be minimal, being mainly reduced to the absence of exhaust pipes in the latter and the presence of a characteristic hatch for the charging connector.
The GranTurismo Folgore electric car will use an architecture with an 800-volt power system that will allow charging from DC stations with a power of up to 270 kW. The plant will consist of three electric motors based on permanent magnets, the power of each one will reach 300 kW (407 hp). The traction battery will have a T-shape, which will allow the seats to be placed in the cabin as low as in the petrol version of the coupe. Battery capacity will reach 92.5 kWh, but only 83 kWh will actually be available for use.
The top speed of Maserati's first electric car is limited to around 320 km/h. The power reserve has not yet been specified, as well as the possible price of new items. There will be plenty of displays in the cabin, even the branded clock on the front will give way to a small display that can show secondary information and notifications. For an additional cost, you can also get a projection screen that displays information on the windshield. The interior of the electric version of the coupe will use more environmentally friendly materials than in the case of gasoline. The virtual assistant Mia will be responsible for the voice control function. Maserati's second electric car is expected to be the Grecale crossover, which will launch after the GranTurismo Folgore. By the way, the surname in translation from Italian means "lightning".
For those who would still like to hear the characteristic sound of the engine, Maserati offers a corresponding function, when recordings from its own V8 engines are played through the speakers according to the nature of the movement. In addition, the company focuses on the fact that the design of the car practically does not offer an electric car.
It remains to add that for the car they will ask from 170,000 to 215,000 dollars. Sales will begin in summer 2023.
