FORD MUSTANG GT GEN3 SUPERCAR 2023: MAIS DE 600 CV PARA AS CORRIDAS

Mustang GT Gen3 Supercar: competition version

The seventh generation of the mythical Ford Mustang, which was presented last month at the Detroit Motor Show, including two circuit versions, now debuts a competition version for Australia, the so-called Ford Mustang GT Gen3 Supercar 2023.

It is a racing monster based on the famous pony car, in this case developed to compete in the Australian Supercars Championship, that is, the Australian Supercars Championship 2023.

This Ford Mustang GT Gen3 Supercar is the first racing version of the seventh generation Mustang, hence the first time we've seen the model dressed up for competition. And the truth is that it looks magnificent.

The model is based on the street version of the American model, with a body that resembles that of the series S650, and the engine is the same V8 Coyote, but tuned for competition by Ford Performance, and in this case with the displacement raised to the 5.4 liters, among other things.

The 5.4-liter V8 engine in this racing car offers a power of more than 610 hp, as well as a maximum torque of more than 650 Nm, which is sent only to the rear wheels, through a 6-speed Xtrac P1293 sequential transmission, with fins on the steering wheel and in transaxle layout.

The Mustang Gen3 Supercar was built by Dick Johnson Racing, in collaboration with Ford Performance, and it will be Dick Johnson himself who will be behind the wheel of this beast for the first time, specifically in the 1,000 km of Bathurst, an endurance race that is celebrated in the famous Mount Panorama circuit in Australia.

Subsequently, the Gen3 Supercar will make its debut in the 2023 season of the aforementioned Australian championship, although there is still no concrete date announced, perhaps because the calendar has not yet been set.

In any case, we know that many more racing Mustangs are on the way, from versions for NASCAR and NHRA Factory X, to GT3 and GT4 versions that will compete around the world, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2024, where the Mustang GT3 will return after decades of absence.
