Overland's first-gen Q7: the city car gone wild
If we think of pure SUVs, brands such as Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota may come to mind, but we would never think of Audi, as the German brand has never had a true off-road model in its lineup.
The absence of pure off-road in Audi's lineup has prompted the Kuwait-resident owner of a first-generation Audi Q7 to transform his vehicle into a monster fit for desert adventures.
Thanks to the video released by Auditography, a channel we have already talked about on other occasions, we can get to know the story of this owner and his brutal Audi Q7. He used to drive through the desert in a Jeep, Nissan Patrol or Toyota Land Cruiser, until he decided he wanted to do it in his German SUV.
So he turned his VR6-powered model into what he called the Audi Q7 Overland, a vehicle with a much higher ground clearance, a much more capable off-road suspension and, of course, all-terrain tires and all sorts of accessories. off-road.
The complete list of modifications can be found in the description of the video that can be seen below, but it is worth highlighting some of the most interesting, such as the bespoke front and rear bumpers, which notably improve the angles of attack and departure of the model.
Also noteworthy is the exhaust system with four tailpipes, the various auxiliary LED headlights throughout the vehicle and a flexible solar panel on the hood. The model even includes a fridge and a shower, to relax once the desert crossing is over.
The interior, which is practically standard, has a new 10.5-inch screen in the center console and another one further to the driver's left that allows controlling all these auxiliary LEDs. Of course, both the fridge and the shower are in the trunk.
Where there is no change is under the hood, as this 2008 Audi Q7 retains the 3.6-liter, 6-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which continues to deliver 280 horsepower and 360 Nm of maximum torque, and is combined with the quattro drive. At least as standard, this model is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and reaching 225 km/h.
