The brand's electric truck appears in definitive images, deliveries will begin before the end of this year 2022
A few weeks ago, Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla's long-awaited electric truck was finally around the corner. According to the CEO of the American company himself, deliveries will begin before the end of this year 2022.
This means that if deliveries of the 2022 Tesla Semi to customers actually start this year, it will have been three years since the model was officially announced and five years since the original prototype was shown.
The electric vehicle manufacturer has just updated photographs from the Semi's official website, which may indicate that, in fact, everything is going from strength to strength for the commercial launch of its larger model.
In general, the look of the Semi is truly faithful to the original concept, although seeing the new images it seems that the brand has adapted some aspects, installing, for example, mirrors for use that complement the video cameras of the prototype.
As we already knew, the only version that will initially be available of this 100% electric truck will be the one that promises around 800 kilometers of autonomy, as well as an energy consumption of 2 kWh for each mile traveled (1.6 km) and a recharge capable of replenishing 70% autonomy in 30 minutes in the so-called Tesla Semi Chargers.
Although the manufacturer has not provided information on the capacity of the truck's battery, calculations above say the following: considering an advertised range of 500 miles and an average consumption of 2 kWh for each of these miles, we are talking about a battery with about 1,000 kWh.
It should also be noted that this vehicle has a maximum combined weight (GCW or Maximum Gross Combination Weight), which we suppose is equivalent to 37,195 kilos.
It was also announced that it will be able to accelerate to 96 km/h (0-60 mph) in 20 seconds and that it will be able to maintain the legal speed of the roads on which it travels, even in the face of steep climbs, although it has not given any concrete figures.
