Project24: circuit hypercar of the Italian brand of very limited production
Lately, several car manufacturers have set to work to develop authentic circuit hypercars. This is the case of Mercedes-AMG with the Project ONE and Aston Martin with the Valkyrie. Now it's the turn of the trident brand, which has just revealed new images of its Maserati Project24. In total, 62 very special units based on the MC20.
The model will be born as a spiritual successor to the racing version of the Maserati MC12, based on the Ferrari Enzo. Pricing for Project24 has not been revealed, but we assume that the 62 units will sell out quickly. Its lucky owners will also have access to a range of services that include circuit-specific experiences and supports.
Maserati has released several official sketches and images that allow you to get an overview of its upcoming hypercar. Project24 was born to celebrate the brand's rich automotive heritage. The body panels are made of carbon fiber combined with some natural fiber components.
The connection to the MC20 is evident only in the shape of the cabin, as everything else is custom made. Even the windows are unique to Project24 as they are made from Lexan to save weight. The designers at Centro Stile Maserati opted for an extreme look. It has slender LED lights on the bumper and a divider in the purest F1 style.
Nor is it lacking in large hood vents, extended side steps, a new type of stabilizer, racing mirrors and a huge rear spoiler, which is connected to a central fin. The rear also sports LED lights inspired by the trident emblem, twin tailpipes and a racing-spec diffuser.
As expected, the aerodynamics are active and with multiple adjustable elements. For the wheels, they opted for a set of 18-inch forged aluminum with central locking, special aerodynamic hubcaps and smooth tires. Inside, you can also expect an atmosphere of competition.
Like a racing car, Project24 will have an FIA-approved safety cage, a fire extinguisher and a special fuel tank. It will also feature a carbon fiber multifunction steering wheel with integrated screen and a racing seat with a six-point belt. Maserati also talks about paddles for changing gears.
There will also be adjustable pedals and steering column, air conditioning, a data acquisition system and switches to adjust the ABS, as well as traction control. Options include an additional passenger seat, a ‘driving performance optimization’ screen, a mirror screen and telemetry recording, among others.
The Project24 shares the carbon fiber monohull chassis with the MC20. However, it benefits from a number of track-focused updates. We also find the 3.0-liter Nettuno V6 biturbo engine with dry sump. In this case, delivering 740 horsepower.
The increased power, together with a weight of just 1,250 kg, results in a power-to-weight ratio of 1.69 kg/hp. This power is transmitted to the rear axle via a 6-speed sequential transmission. Equips a racing clutch and a mechanical limited slip differential.
The dual fork suspension is tuned specifically for the track with adjustable dampers and anti-roll bars. Nor is it lacking Brembo CCMR ventilated brakes with racing calipers and a specific cooling system.
