Honda prometeu lançar 10 novos modelos de motos elétricas nos próximos três anos

Japanese brand will produce fully electrified motorcycles by the end of 2025

Honda announced plans to launch ten new models of electric motorcycles by the end of 2025. The Japanese company is the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, with total sales of more than 400 thousand units during its operation.

Influenced by the success of electric motorcycle startups such as Zero Motorcycles and Energica, the company announced plans for four models of electric motorcycles in 2021. In March 2022, Honda announced its first production electric motorcycle, a CRF-E2. They have small dimensions because it is designed for young pilots. The motorcycle is equipped with an electric motor with a maximum power of 2.5 kW and a replaceable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 20 Ah. The weight of the motorcycle is 106 pounds (48 kg).

Now, Honda has at least 10 new models of electric motorcycles in the next three years. The company plans to achieve annual sales of electric motorcycles worth less than 3.5 million units by 2030, or about 15% of total sales. All new models will be equipped with solid-state batteries, which are still under development. The launch of battery production is scheduled for 2024. The plans to launch 10 new models of electric motorcycles are part of its strategy to achieve carbon neutrality in the motorcycle division by 2040, the company said.

In May this year, Honda revealed the design of its first electric vehicle for the mass market, or Honda Prologue, which should be on sale in 2024. The company also announced that its electric vehicles will be produced in North America and will be available for sale in 2026. Starting in 2026, Honda will produce electric vehicles based on its new proprietary architecture. One year later, the company will begin the production of a new series of accessible electric vehicles on a new platform developed jointly with GM. By 2030, the company expects to sell nearly 500,000 electric vehicles in North America.
