Company presents second generation M8 luxury MPV
GAC introduced the new second generation of its M8 luxury MPV model in China.
The news highlights that the new M8 is focused on luxury, technology and space, and is offered with petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Attention is immediately drawn to the large chrome grille (which GAC calls “Soaring Wings 2.0”), but also to the slim, lava-inspired LED headlamps.
The new M8 is larger than the old model, which in practice means it is 5,212mm long, 1,893mm wide and 1,823mm high, while the wheelbase is 3,070mm.
As for the interior, according to the factory, it represents the most impressive upgrade over the previous generation in terms of appearance, materials and technology. Highlights include the 14.6-inch touchscreen, the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and the illuminated shift lever that matches the color of the ambient lighting.
Customers will have two cabin themes available, one more discreet in black and white and the other more elegant “Royal Opera” with shades of red, gold and white. The seating arrangement can be adjusted thanks to the folding third row and the sliding second row, transforming this seven-seat MPV into a four-seat mobile business meeting room.
The M8 will be offered in petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, with the electrified variants using Toyota's hybrid system, likely in combination with a locally produced 2.0-liter engine.
The new GAC M8 will be available in China from November this year, for now its price is not mentioned.
