XPENG
The new XPeng S4 super fast charger, first announced in late 2021, is an 800-volt class EV charger with a maximum power rating of 480kW (up to 670A and over 700V).
In its presentation, XPeng showed a charging example of its newly released XPeng G9 model. The XPeng G9 is the first model that can maximize the potential of the new charger.
According to the video, the car was charged for approximately 210 km (131 miles) of CLTC in just 5 minutes, charging from a very low state of charge (SOC) to around 40% SOC.
The session initially started with more than 150kW (above 640V). In just a few steps, the charging power increased to 400kW in about 1 minute. More than 440kW was reached in 3 and a half minutes (approximately 700V).
Unfortunately, the charging session ends early, so we can't see how quickly the G9 will charge past the relatively narrow SOC window that's generally considered ideal for high-power charging.
However, this is a very good score for the Chinese GB/T charging socket, probably the highest available in China.
