CITROEN

Citroën 2CV eléctrico Eive

British company turns the legendary Citroen 2CV into an electrified van

There's a good chance that in the long term there won't be a single classic van in European city centers anymore due to environmental zones, but an electric powertrain could change that. With that in mind, the British 'The 2CV Shop' set to work, resulting in this Eive dubbed the 2CV Fourgonnette. Some enthusiasts may have their hair on end, but don't worry: no classic Fourgonnette 2CV was 'wrecked' for this. The 2CV Shop mainly uses newly produced parts (even the chassis and bodywork) from the 2CV Méhari Club of Cassis, France. In essence, this is an almost new 'Delivery End' with a new drivetrain. Don't count on the Duck suddenly being a very lacerating monster, as it has a 28hp electric motor. Just nice and modest, as you know from a 2CV. However, the torque of 120 Nm is quite strong for a Duck. It helps the Eive reach a top speed of just under 100 km/h and, according to The 2CV Shop, the largest battery available has enough capacity for a range of up to 225 km. With the standard 10 kWh battery, you can count on a narrow range of 100 km. Despite the presence of batteries (lithium-iron-phosphate), there is still room for 1,900 liters of luggage. The 2CV Shop also guarantees that the batteries will still have 80% of their capacity after 2,500 full charges. The Eive can be custom-built for left- and right-hand drive markets, with or without cargo cabin side windows, in any color you desire. There is also a choice of 25 different materials for the interior finish. The first copies of the handmade Eive should already be on the market later this year for an expected starting price of more than €46,000. It's not cheap, but there is an alternative. The 2CV Store also offers conversion, with which you can have an existing 2CV (also a regular 2CV) converted into a ‘2cEv’. This costs €20,000 converted but could be more depending on the condition of the base car. An already converted regular 2CV is available from just €35,500.
