Porsche ''Pixar'': brings to life Sally Carrera, one of the protagonists of the movie Cars

It was announced some time ago as a simple sketch, but it is now a reality: the Porsche 911 Sally Special is a unique car, the result of Porsche's association with Pixar, which brings to life Sally Carrera, one of the protagonists of the movie Cars. . In addition, it will be auctioned and the proceeds will be distributed between two charitable organizations, Girls Inc. and USA for UNHCR.

The curious thing is that the project included both Porsche specialists and people from the team that had designed Sally more than 15 years ago for the first film in the saga. Involved in its development were both Jay Ward, Creative Director of Franchise at Pixar Animation Studios, and Bob Pauley, the Production Designer who first designed Sally Carrera for the film.

In total it took 10 months of hard work (it all started in November 2021) and the result was a Porsche 911 like no other.

Jay Ward explains: “We had a lot of fun creating the 911 Sally Special and it's the first time we've worked on such a project. We decided from the start that we wanted a road-legal 911, inspired by the Sally Carrera, but not an exact copy. Sally Carrera loves to direct and that was our inspiration. Then we asked ourselves: if Sally were manufactured today as a street model, what would it look like?”.

This is evident in many details such as, for example, that the bodywork was hand-painted in the exclusive Sally blue metallic color, the character's tattoo was also implemented and the wheels were reinterpreted, the Turbo from the 911 996 that were applied in the size of 20 /21 inches from the current generation.

Regarding the cabin, Porsche interior designer Daniela Milosevic highlights: “They gave us complete freedom, it was brilliant! In the film, Sally Carrera was a California attorney who valued style and elegance.” And she specifies: “The 911 Sally Special is designed to be used and enjoyed frequently. We developed a special upholstery of Pepita Houndstoot fabric in three colors, combined with chalk-toned leather and Speed ​​blue stitching. The elaboration of these details makes the project special and brings us many memories of the film and Sally Carrera”.

On a mechanical level, Boris Apenbrink, Vehicle Director at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, points out that “the 911 Sally Special is based on the GTS version of the 911 Carrera line, with 480 hp. It is equipped with a manual transmission, in keeping with Sally Carrera's passion for driving.”

The Porsche 911 Sally Special will be auctioned at the event that RM Sotheby’s will celebrate on Saturday, August 20, during Monterrey Auto Week in California. Along with the car, the 911 Sally Special Chronograph, a watch that matches the sports car, will also be auctioned.
