KEEWAY
SOLID AND STRIKING... MBP does not invent anything new and proposes its interpretation of what other manufacturers already have, its first model being the naked called M502N. Mount equipped with a 486 cc twin-cylinder engine, with a known layout, inspired by the Honda engine block design, which produces 47.6 CV, suitable for the A2 license.
To dress up his model and give potential buyers a seductive appearance, he has designed a bodywork with angular lines, with a markedly sporty character. Keeway, or MBP, really knows that to win customers he needs to try to get as close as possible to the 3B rule of good, nice and cheap.
And as for cheap, the M502N sets its price at 5,990 euros. Initially they had put it at €6,290 but they have reconsidered to lower it when they saw that it was very close to rivals such as the Honda CB 500 F, and that without a price difference, there were fewer sales opportunities. In addition, customers can benefit from the free insurance promotion for the first year, which applies to the entire Keeway range, for drivers over 25 years of age.
In this way, a solid and striking proposal is created in which to find its space and take advantage of the opportunity that the A2 pilots may leave the sales cake of models.
It will not be the only model that MBP puts on the market, as its objective is a trail and a custom bike with the same engine as the naked one, and it even plans to have a 1,000 cc motorcycle or similar soon, setting its sights on yet another client. higher demands and higher purchase investment.
An outstanding fact of this MBP 502 is the ease of handling that it seeks to provide to any user, starting from the very first moment of getting on the motorcycle and sitting on it. The M502N is therefore a low motorcycle with a seat height of 790 mm, so it fulfills the task of being accessible to the public. Perfect for use in the city, between traffic lights, so as not to suffer at each stop to get off the ground.
In the cockpit we find a striking instrument panel, with abundant information, but with a reading of its graphics that is not entirely legible at first glance, especially due to the small size of the font. And much less if the sun hits the screen directly, because the brightness does not let you see too much, something that now happens permanently in summer. By the way, the key is of the traditional type, nothing "keyless", an accessory not widely used in this type of naked motorcycle with an A2 license.
The effectiveness of the M502N is beyond doubt as soon as we shoot with it. It is one of those kind motorcycles that welcomes you from the first encounter with it. Thus, it perfectly fulfills its function of being a motorcycle with which to start riding with medium displacement frames and to do so without having to rush because the motorcycle has too much character. It certainly responds with kindness and both the twin-cylinder engine and the trellis frame make it successful.
It has good lows and mids, recovers and revs healthily and is not a critical engine to use. We did notice a certain level of vibrations more than perceptible in the upper area of the rev counter, which left us with a certain tingling in our hands at the end of road trips. Our first contact has been on secondary roads in the area of Cardedeu and Llinars del Vallés, Barcelona, the type of route that best suits this motorcycle.
The powertrain complies with its intentions to entertain the pilot, to make him feel well transported and to allow him to gain experience in touring/sports driving with pleasure. It offers a very standardized response in the segment of these motorcycles, especially since in the end, almost all of them have the same engine, manufactured by one of the great Chinese mechanical manufacturers.
The braking capacity with the double 300 mm front disc and the 240 mm rear disc is very good, sometimes feeling the ABS a bit intrusive, especially behind. The feel of the suspension complies with providing sensitivity for comfort and poise for sportiness.
The new MBP brand is born with good wickers and surely many of you find it worthwhile to have an M502N with which to gain experience in the use of a “big” motorcycle.
Ignorance of a brand like MBP, belonging to the Keeway group, should not lead you not to consider it. Behind it is a well-known manufacturer in our market that has good sales, especially with its 125 models. The M502N has good aesthetics, it is outstanding, it has a noble and Percheron engine, as well as a well-balanced chassis. Its price, below six thousand euros, is a reason to take it into account, at least a strong argument.
