JAC E-JT 12,5 100% elétrico

Brand already sells new 100% electric medium truck in Brazil

JAC Motors already sells the new 100% electric truck E-JT 12.5 in Brazil. The medium model has a total gross weight (GWP) of 12.5 tonnes. Also, the traction is 6x2*2. That is, the last two axes have rotated single. According to the brand, they serve as support, which eliminates the use of more tires and reduces the cost of the operation. The suggested price is R$ 699,900 (local currency). Deliveries start in 2023.

According to JAC, the E-JT 12.5 has a payload of 8.6 tons. Therefore, it is aimed at urban operations such as the transport of beverages, meat and gas cylinders, for example. The new truck is the company's sixth 100% electric commercial vehicle offered in Brazil. According to the Chinese brand, in relation to an equivalent diesel model, the cost reduction per km traveled can reach R$ 1.32.

In the JAC E-JT 12.5, the engine power is equivalent to 235 hp and the torque is 107 mkgf. According to the brand, the batteries have a capacity of 107 kWh. With this, the autonomy of the truck varies from 150 km to 250 km. However, this depends on the type of use and the load carried. The brand informs that the new model is delivered with two battery packs.

According to the brand, in conventional 7 kWh chargers, charging takes 13 hours. On the other hand, in fast systems of 100 kWh, the time required to restore energy is about 55 minutes. That is, it can be done, for example, during the lunch break for the driver and helpers.

There is no exchange. However, the model has a device with automatic activation that simulates two gears. As the power train, batteries and other components of the propulsion system are under the floor, it is possible to use various types of implement. Or even shorten the chassis length, for example.

Well equipped as standard...The new truck is well equipped. As standard, it has items such as a double air bag, front brakes with ventilated discs, with pneumatic operation, and ABS. In addition, there are electronic traction and stability controls. As well as hill assist, which prevents the vehicle from reversing on hills, for example. Likewise, there is electronic parking brake and driver's seat with air suspension.

Other highlights are the voltage cut and the unlocking of the doors in the event of a collision. In terms of comfort, there is digital air conditioning, 360° cameras, obstacle sensor and rear camera. As well as LED daytime running lights, power windows and locks. Multimedia center with 12-inch vertical screen, with Google package and cell phone mirroring, are also factory equipment.

Silence on board and strength... We ride the new JAC E-JT 12.5 through streets and avenues in the south of São Paulo. Therefore, the truck did not exceed 50 km/h. As with other electric vehicles, the low noise level on board is noteworthy. At idle, we measured only 46 decibels. With the model running at 36 km/h, in the cabin the decibel meter read 55 decibels.

Another attribute is the good torque supply, available immediately. As a result, even when loaded, the truck responds promptly to throttle commands. In the little more than 2 km of the route, with the truck fully loaded, the behavior was pleasing.

JAC has good expectations for the model...According to the president of JAC Motors do Brasil, Sergio Habib, the prospects for sales of the new trucado are very good. According to him, the number of license plates should be similar to that of the 1200T. That is, around 600 units per year.

According to the executive, the segment of trucks with PBT between 10 t and 15 t revolves around 12 thousand units per year. Thus, it is similar to the light ones, with PBT between 5 t and 10 t. "Those who buy these trucks are big shippers, concerned about ESG policies," says Habib. According to him, these companies usually operate with two types of trucks. The light one is for carrying more volume and the medium one for carrying more weight.
