INKAS® Armored Cadillac Escalade: a real battle tank that resists AK-47 gun fire
Built on General Motors' T1 platform, which can also be found on the latest generation Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon, the Cadillac Escalade ESV stands out for adopting GM's 'Global B' electrical architecture and equipping advanced network security for technologies highly automated driving.
But the Cadillac Escalade that appears in the images is not just any Escalade, but a vehicle very similar to a World War II bunker. Canadian specialist Inkas Armored Vehicle Manufacturing recently unveiled this armored version of the massive SUV that will undoubtedly find a multitude of fans.
We're talking about one of the few specialists who offer the new Escalade with a CEN 1063 BR6 level of ballistic protection thanks to the use of first-rate armor technologies and materials. Aesthetically, there are no major differences from the conventional versions.
However, if you happened to be walking quietly along the street and suddenly a bunch of burglars armed with AK-47s decided to disturb your inner peace, nothing would happen, as the level B6 armor this Cadillac Escalade is equipped with would resist the attack. Including the explosions of two DM51 grenades simultaneously under the floor.
It has a reinforced cabin in all corners, electroluminescent bulletproof glass, interior air recirculation system and special protection for the battery, electronic systems and fuel tank. A complete panic room where we even have a weapons compartment.
For its part, the electronic system is fully controlled via an iPad from the inside, including the perimeter surveillance cameras to see the arrival of the bad guys. Mechanically, it maintains the 6.2-liter V8 engine with 425 hp at 5,600 rpm. It is associated with the 10-speed automatic transmission and the all-wheel drive system.
The Chairman Package boasts luxurious captain-style seats. They have built-in temperature and massage controls. The driver's seat separation area doubles as an entertainment center, with a large hidden TV.
Electrically adjustable tables and folding seats can also be controlled from the rear seats. The ceiling even has LEDs that simulate natural light so that this 'safe' doesn't feel too isolated from the world around it.
