GM

General Motors vai produzir até 2 milhões de veículos elétricos por ano até 2025

American automotive giant wants to produce 2 million electrified cars in the North American market

Earlier this year, General Motors Corporation announced its intention to organize the production of one million electric vehicles per year in North America by 2025. About six months have passed, and that goal has already been doubled by the automaker's management to two million electric vehicles a year. GM believes it has access to the resources needed to manufacture a proportionate amount of traction batteries.

Corresponding statements, according to Electrek, at yesterday's JP Morgan Auto conference were made by CFO Paul Jacobson. The American auto giant has already agreed with LG Energy Solution to build two companies in the United States for the production of traction batteries, they will be located in Ohio and Tennessee, the third will join them in Michigan. In total, GM will open a new battery factory every four years, so in the future there will be another location for the production of batteries for the brand's electric vehicles in the United States.

GM hopes to become a leading producer of traction batteries in North America; the corporation has already signed the necessary contracts for the supply of raw material for its production up to and including 2025. GM now has four mass-produced electric vehicle models: two versions of the Chevrolet Bolt EV/EUV, the premium Cadillac LYRIQ and the no less expensive Hummer EV SUV in two body types. Joining them in the near future are the Chevrolet Blazer EV electric crossovers, the Chevrolet Equinox EV and the more affordable Chevrolet Silverado pickup.
