FORD

New generation Mustang roams the streets of Detroit in camouflage

We are just over two weeks away from witnessing the launch of the next generation Ford Mustang, and the desire to meet it is palpable in the environment. Even the brand itself seems impatient to show it to its enthusiasts, because it continues to leave provocations here and there.

Like for example one of their last posts and Instagram where, taking advantage of the memory of their performance (14 September during the 'Mustang Stampede'), they 'sneaked' a small snippet of what the new iteration of their well-known V8 'Coyote' sounds like .

The so-called 'voice' seems to be exactly as you would expect: throaty at low revs and a unique show on the throttle. Pure Detroit muscle roaring once again, and with a tuning that confirms what you could already see in the 'spy videos' from months ago.

The most complete of them, published in January by the youtube channel motolix and attributed to the Ford Authority website, showed one of the pre-production units of the new Mustang leaving for a test drive. And the engine sound was the same then, despite mounting some bizarre mufflers that will predictably have nothing to do with the definitive ones.

Because the camouflage of this prototype, which coincidentally is identical to that of the unit that patiently awaits its 'unboxing' in the Stampede, has already revealed to us that its general appearance was definitive.

In this sense, a look above makes it clear that the silhouette will be continuous, although the widening of the rear track (a feature of the model) seems to be even a little more accentuated, if possible.

Something that could change, if we take into account the rumors that have emerged in recent times, would be the platform. Like the other Ford brands, it also seeks to concentrate its range of chassis, which in the case of the new Mustang would lead it to be based on the RWD C6o, the same as the Ford Explorer or the Lincoln Aviator.

As for the mechanics, in addition to the V8 5.0 (the usual 'Coyote') it seems certain that the V6 Ecoboost will also remain available as an access option, according to the words of Ford CEO Jim Farley in the statement a few days ago.

However, as stated by some content creators who have already been able to closely observe the camouflaged example displayed by the brand, other options in the eight-cylinder range (as usual 5.2) they seem ruled out for now As for the hybrid option that has been commented on, no there seems to be no new information that confirms or denies its existence.

Be that as it may, there is less left to attend without masks or dissimulations to the new generation of this popular 'pony car'. Time will have to tell whether it will become the last Mustang appreciated by purists, or if, on the contrary, the miracle of managing to keep its particular philosophy against the wind and tide of ‘eco’ regulations happens.
