Since 2003, the BMW M Award has been a key component of the close collaboration between BMW M GmbH and MotoGP rights owner Dorna Sports. This year marks a double anniversary: BMW M GmbH turns 50 and the coveted award for the fastest rider in MotoGP classification is handed out for the twentieth time. To commemorate the occasion, BMW M is offering an exclusive product highlighted as a car for the winner: the first BMW M3 Competition Touring with xDrive, which celebrated its world premiere just a few weeks ago. Market launch is scheduled for November.

The first BMW M3 Touring combines an authentic racing feel with strong character and a wide range of practical qualities. Its propulsion technology is completely focused on delivering seductive performance and combines the 510 hp version of the 6-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, the 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. . Therefore, the latest addition to the range is available exclusively in the form of the BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive. The variable-use interior of the first BMW M3 Touring offers new possibilities to experience typical M performance in everyday use. The BMW M3 Touring uniquely combines M's signature combination of dynamism, agility and precision with boundless aptitude for everyday driving and the ability to cover long distances.

The Frozen Black paint scheme gives the BMW M3 Competition Touring, winner of the 2022 BMW M Award, a more than impressive appearance. Inside, the electrically adjustable M sport seats with Merino/Black leather upholstery create a true racing feel without sacrificing comfort. The M Competition braking system guarantees superior driving at the limit.

The BMW M3 Competition Touring with xDrive also served as the basis for MotoGP's first BMW M3 Touring Safety Car, which was also presented to the public at the Festival of Speed in Goodwood and which will now appear for the first time on the Silverstone track as the flagship car. It has a special livery from 50 years of BMW M and all MotoGP Safety Vehicles from 1999 to today appear on the car, thus paying tribute to the long association with Dorna Sports.

Since 2003, the BMW M Award has been awarded to the MotoGP rider with the best results in the standings. On each Grand Prix weekend, drivers are awarded points for their positions at the end of the standings, in the same way that points are awarded in races. The driver who scores the most points at the end of the season wins the coveted BMW M Award.

The record winner at the BMW M Award is Marc Marquez, who won the award on seven consecutive occasions between 2013 and 2019. Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner have each won it three times. Fabio Quartararo has won the BMW M Award twice, in 2020 and 2021. Jorge Lorenzo has also recorded two wins during his career. Sete Gibernau and Nicky Hayden each achieved the best classification once.
