BMW falou sobre quando poderá apresentar seu novo supercarro

Bavarian brand commented on the launch of a super sports car

The BMW M1 supercar never received a real successor, despite the fact that in 1981 the car stopped rolling off the brand's assembly lines. The BMW Nazca C2 from the early 1990s, which was also designed by Italdesign's Giorgetto Giugiaro, would have been a likely successor, but the German marque decided not to make the concept a production model. It could be argued that the mid-engined i8 hybrid was the spiritual successor to the BMW M1, but as many would argue, this is a moot point.

The concept of the hybrid supercar BMW Vision M Next (pictured), unveiled in 2019, has given some hope to the supersports supercar of the Bavarian brand.

The automaker even said it would do so on the condition that there was interest in it. Again, such a car has not yet been presented.

But that doesn't mean that BMW has already lost all interest in building a sports car that would be a true successor to the M1. As part of his recent interview with Western media, BMW M CEO Frank van Mil said that creating such a car is something he would always like to see.

“As car manufacturers, we have always dreamed of building cars like this. That doesn't mean we're going to make them, but we continue to explore ideas for their creation,” said van Miel.

The Vision M Next concept may not have gone into production, in part because the massive XM crossover has become a priority for the company. Van Mil went on to say that BMW M does not need to prove that it is a sports company and that a supercar is not vital to its brand.

Not long ago, our publication wrote that BMW M introduced its first i4 with four electric motors. The Bavarian brand published a video showing the BMW i4 high-performance electric car. Among the many features of the novelty, four powerful electric motors stand out.
