New Android Auto update coming soon with lots of news
Google is announcing a new update to Android Auto with improvements to camera, privacy, sensors and telemetry.
Just a few months after Google announced several new features and a redesigned interface for Android Auto, the American giant is bringing a new update, called Android Auto 13. Most of the changes brought about by this new update are technically, meaning they don't be as impressive as the previous ones for ordinary users. However, the new Android Auto 13 comes with some key improvements in terms of camera, privacy, sensors and telemetry.
First, by taking advantage of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology and Bluetooth integration, security updates will now be much easier to implement. Third-party application developers will also be able to specify the jurisdictions in which their programs are legal or not. The new update also brings with it an API to include VendorElements, which will allow for a much better design of Android Auto from the phone to the head unit of a car.
What's New in Android Auto 13...Also, in terms of privacy improvements, users will now be able to get a reminder about the permissions they've given while driving. For example, if an app asked for permission to access your microphone and you gave it permission while driving, your phone will send a notification to remind you. That way, you won't have to struggle with these issues while you're driving, and you'll have to make a decision about what permissions you give the system when you're not driving.
In addition, Android Auto 13 also has a new privacy panel. First introduced on smart devices in Android 12, this dashboard will provide users with a timeline of sensor-related events (location, microphone and camera).
The new update won't bring a big change to the user experience, but Google says that all these updates will make the system more fluid.
