Posle Toyote RAV4, osvežen i Highlander

After the RAV4, the Highlander has also been refreshed

Toyota Highlander, the largest hybrid electric SUV of the Japanese brand, for the 2023 model year, receives improvements that bring it a fresh look and new technologies for better connectivity and a personalized user experience.

The Highlander, which debuted in Western Europe in 2021, provides comfortable transportation for up to seven passengers, as well as the intelligent performance of smart all-wheel drive (AWD).

New for models marked 2023 is an option with a rich Cypress Green metallic color. The new 20-inch gloss black light-alloy wheels have contrasting details, while the choice of beige and ocher leather seat covers further accentuates the elegance of the cabin.

Highlander is the latest model to receive the new Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system. It includes a high-resolution, touch-sensitive, diagonal 12.3-inch screen with additional functionalities, including Internet navigation (“in the cloud”), based on real-time information about all events on the road, as well as a voice assistant in the vehicle.

Cloud navigation can be accessed without smartphone pairing and without additional data charges as the new Highlander is sold with a four-year data package included, which also covers simple, over-the-air system updates.

Models with a higher equipment package are also equipped with the Toyota Smart Connect+ system, which additionally supports the built-in navigation system and enables route planning when and where the Internet connection is not available. It also provides a view of the city in 3D technology, recognition of traffic signs and notifications about the locations of stationary speed control cameras.

The new systems allow useful remote controls, including locking and unlocking the doors and activating flashing lights to help locate the car in a congested parking lot. In addition, they enable a wireless connection with a smartphone via the Apple CarPlay application, and a cable connection for using the Android Auto system. All versions of the Highlander will now have a wireless charging tray, moved to the front console for ease of use.

The screen with instruments in front of the driver, with a diagonal of 12.3 inches, has been completely redesigned with the introduction of new digital pointers, displaying information that is easy to read and enables intuitive use. The screen creates a reclining effect of a three-dimensional cluster of gauges, with graphics that can be adapted to the driver's wishes, with the visual appearance of four design themes: Casual, Smart, Tough and Sport.

In Western Europe, the Highlander 2023 retains its 248 hp hybrid electric drive which, with CO2 emissions of 149 g/km (WLTP combined cycle), has the best weight-to-emissions ratio in its segment.

For Eastern European markets, a new 2.4-liter turbo-petrol engine will be offered that replaces the previous 3.5-liter V6 unit, bringing benefits in fuel consumption and reducing CO2 emissions. The new power unit produces a maximum of 269 hp and is tuned for high acceleration response and torque availability, making driving more relaxed, with less need to downshift to achieve more powerful performance.
