TESLA

Company reached record production level in June in China

Tesla's electric vehicle deliveries in China hit a record production level in June, following the lifting of restrictions related to new coronavirus outbreaks in the country in the spring. Tesla's Shanghai facility delivered 78,906 electric vehicles last month, doubling the number from the same period last year, when 33,155 vehicles were launched in China. On a monthly basis, Tesla's electric vehicle production in China grew by 145%.

According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), 77,938 produced electric vehicles were delivered to the local market in June, and only 968 cars were shipped abroad. Due to coronavirus restrictions, the company produced just 1,512 vehicles in April at its Chinese factory. None of these vehicles were exported.

According to Bloomberg, Tesla has gone to great lengths to attract thousands of employees to return to full production in China. The company introduced the so-called closed work system, in which workers were actually forced to live in the factory for several months under the guise of quarantine measures. Since June 10, when the company reached a full production level and the problems with the logistics of components for the assembly of electric vehicles were resolved, the work schedule has changed to a standard.

Market experts predict that Tesla's electric vehicle deliveries could fall again in July. This is due to the fact that the American automaker plans to reorganize production at its Shanghai plant, partially suspending production of new cars until early August. Thanks to this, Tesla will be able to increase production of the Model Y from 11 to 14,000 cars per week and of the Model 3 - from 5.5 to 7,000 per week.
