MERCEDES-BENZ

German brand focused on the development of state-of-the-art electric vehicles

Now, Mercedes-Benz's experiments to improve the consumer qualities of electric vehicles, as can be judged by the VISION EQXX concept, are focused on improving aerodynamics, but the company is pinning certain hopes on the emergence of new types of traction batteries. The company is ready to actively increase production of luxury electric vehicles from the mid-decade, according to brand representatives.

By the end of the decade, Mercedes-Benz will only produce electric vehicles and the specific carbon emissions per car in terms of their life cycle by 2030 will be halved compared to 2020 levels. for the transition to mass production of electric vehicles, unions and suppliers also approve the pace of electrification proposed by Mercedes-Benz. Three factories in Germany and one in Hungary will start producing electric vehicles of different price ranges using the new generation platform from the middle of this decade.

The production of traction batteries for them will be organized on three continents, according to Mercedes-Benz representatives, as the company understands the importance of locating the production of this type of component for the pace of electrification of the entire passenger car fleet. Now, the German manufacturer is not shy about experimenting with different types of batteries. For example, some models use LFP batteries, which are quite popular in China and are produced in large quantities. At the same time, in February this year, the German brand announced cooperation with young Taiwanese ProLogium developers, who create batteries with solid-state electrolyte. Last year, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis agreed to provide financial support to American battery developer Factorial Energy.
