Panigale V4 2023: supersport par excellence is updated

The 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 incorporates improvements such as the new Engine Brake Control EVO 2 software, a new strategy for Ducati Quick Shift and tweaks to Ducati Traction Control and Ride by Wire. In addition, a new electric fan control strategy offers better operating temperature management and better thermal comfort. With the 2022 model, the Panigale V4 received the most significant evolution since the year of its launch, with improvements affecting every aspect of the bike: aerodynamics, ergonomics, engine, frame and electronics. In 2023, the Panigale V4, Panigale V4 S and Panigale V4 SP2, have received improvements focused solely on electronics.

To improve stability, precision and directionality when braking and entering corners, the 2023 Panigale V4 receives the new Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO 2 software, which has a different adjustment between gears in each of the three selectable levels. The new strategy has been selected to optimize the intensity of engine braking according to the load on the rear wheel. In the first stage of braking, when there is little load on the rear tyre, the EBC EVO 2 provides less engine braking, which increases as you approach the center of the corner: the moment when engine braking intervention contributes the most to reducing the speed of the bike and tighten the line. Thanks to this strategy, which guarantees a more balanced intervention of the engine brake control in any driving phase, the system reduces the locking of the rear wheel in the most demanding braking situations, thus improving stability and precision in the braking phase. of the cornering.

The 2023 Panigale V4 also receives new Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) software, improving the fluidity of gear changes at each degree of throttle opening, both partially and fully, handling the two situations differently. When changing with the gas partially open, where before the system cut off the injection, the effect is now pursued by delaying the ignition advance, and thus the change in road use is smoother thanks to the absence of engine cut-off. When changing with the throttle completely open, a typical situation on circuits, the strategy continues to be the injection cutoff, but the torque restoration phase has been retouched, guaranteeing more stability to the bike and a more homogeneous thrust and, therefore, more efficient to the benefit of lap time.

In addition to these changes, there is a new strategy for the electric cooling fan, capable of offering better management of operating temperatures and greater thermal comfort for the rider already at speeds typical of road use. This latest update also reduces the typical heat build-up at the end of track sessions.

The updates for 2023 are complemented by a refinement of the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Ride by Wire strategies. The former has evolved to make traction control action even more precise depending on lean angle, while the latter improves the connection between the torque required by the rider and that actually delivered. These improvements follow Ducati's philosophy of constant product development, ensuring regular evolution to always offer the best levels of performance, handling and comfort.

These updates, available on all 2023 Panigale V4, V4 S and V4 SP2 models, will also be available to all users of the 2022 Panigale V4, Panigale V4 S and Panigale V4 SP2 through a simple intervention that can be performed on a Ducati. Service starting from the end of July 2022.

The Panigale V4 is a bike that behaves as well in the hands of professionals as it is rewarding for fans and is frequently used by Ducati Corse riders during their training sessions. It is no coincidence that this bike is the protagonist along with the Panigale V2 of the "Lenovo Race of Champions", which will be held on Saturday, July 23 within the framework of World Ducati Week 2022 and will see 21 Ducati riders from the championships of MotoGP and Superbike compete in the World Circuit of Misano Marco Simoncelli.
