2023 bZ4X electric crossover already has recall

Toyota has announced a global recall of the 2023 bZ4X electric crossover SUV less than two months after its launch. It is reported that during the movement of an electric vehicle, due to the loosening of the hub bolts, the wheel may disconnect. The automaker asked bZ4X owners not to drive until the problem was fixed.

Of the 2,700 electric vehicles to be recalled, 2,200 went to Europe, 280 to North America, 110 to Japan and 60 to the rest of Asia. Most of this batch has not yet been delivered to consumers.

Toyota said it had not yet completed an investigation into the cause of the loose hub bolts. Users are advised to notify their local authorized Toyota dealer to take out the bZ4X for troubleshooting, providing a free replacement.

It should be noted that this is a blow to the credibility of the world's largest automaker, which plans to allocate $17.6 billion to increase the number of electric car models in its portfolio to 30 by 2030.

Currently, the demand for electric vehicles is growing at a significant pace due to rising gasoline prices and increasing number of affordable models. As Tesla continues to dominate the electric vehicle market, traditional automakers are gaining traction with mid-size electric crossovers and luxury models. Electric vehicle prices are also on the rise due to inflation, high demand and rising costs for essential materials such as rare earth metals used to make electric motors and batteries.
