The inverted cutout of the rear bumper is unexpected, while giving the profile an unprecedented dynamic. The Peugeot 408 rests solidly on iconic 20-inch wheels that feature a disruptive geometric design. At the front, the fang-shaped light signature seamlessly integrates the 408 into the Peugeot family, as do the three-claw LED taillights at the rear.
With a length of 4,690 mm, based on a long wheelbase of 2,790 mm, the Peugeot 408 has a remarkably spacious second passenger row with 188 mm of legroom. The trunk is also generously sized, with a volume of 536 liters that can be increased to 1,611 liters after the rear seats are folded down. The Peugeot 408 has a height of 1,480 mm, with a slim and elegant profile, which improves aerodynamic efficiency.

The range of engines that power the Peugeot 408 includes two plug-in hybrid versions with 180 and 225 hp, as well as a 130 hp petrol version. All three are mated to an 8-speed EAT8 automatic transmission. An all-electric version will arrive in a few months.
Efficiency was a top priority for the designers of the Peugeot 408, as the combination of efforts in terms of aerodynamics, weight reduction (from 1,396 kg) and low-emission engines means that the vehicle can now report remarkably average energy consumption. low (in approval process), both for the hybrid versions and for the 130 hp petrol version.
The new Peugeot 408 will hit the market at the beginning of 2023. As a car with a global ambition, it will be produced initially in Mulhouse, France, for the European market and shortly afterwards at the factory in Chengdu, China, for the local market.
