C4 X and ë-C4 X Electric: sleek fastback profile with modern SUV look

Citroën today unveiled the C4 X and the ë-C4 X Electric, in an elegant and unique concept designed for customers looking for an attractive alternative to hatchbacks and SUVs in the heart of the mid-range automotive market.

In the Citroën C5 X line, the style of the ë-C4 X and C4 X challenges traditional definitions of compact bodies, offering customers something innovative and different: a design that crosses the elegant profile of a fastback with the modern look of a an SUV, as well as the timeless refinement and space aboard a 4-door sedan.

“We are very pleased with the opportunity to integrate these new models into our lineup. Customers of the 100% electric C4 X and ë-C4 X will also benefit from Citroën's new-generation infotainment interface called MyCitroën Drive Plus, a complete technology dedicated to connectivity and connected services.

A protagonist of the energy transition, Citroën is also taking the bold step of offering only the all-electric version ë-C4 X in many of its European markets, where sales of electrified vehicles are already more mature. With its 100 kW engine, with a homologated range of 360 km (WLTP), the ë-C4 X will be the only 100% electric car to offer this attractive combination of design, comfort and space in the consumer car market, of the middle segment. With a large trunk volume of 510 liters, it will accompany families in the different stages of their lives, and for professionals it will be the ideal partner for daily trips in the city, specifically for private or professional drivers.

Customers who prefer an efficient combustion engine, in international markets, as well as in some European countries, will be able to choose between PureTech or BlueHDi diesel blocks, proposals that are more than proven and with excellent performance.

The new ë-C4 X and C4 X versions will be produced exclusively in Europe, for all markets, at the Stellantis factory in Villaverde, near Madrid (Spain), and sales will begin progressively in autumn 2022.

A unique and differentiated character...The C4 X and ë-C4 X belong to the latest generation of the Citroën family, offering a style and concept that stand out. They offer something new and unique to customers who want a stylish alternative to the many hatchbacks and SUVs currently available on the market.

“The ë-C4 X and C4 X stand out from the crowd, maintaining at the front the rounded image and style that represents the current Citroën silhouettes, and when you walk around the vehicle you realize that its profile is very different, much more dynamic and attractive”, says Pierre Leclercq, Citroën's Director of Style. “We wanted to add length in order to provide additional comfort for passengers in the back, as well as an enlarged trunk volume, in order to meet the needs of customers, who prefer a more traditional trunk, such as that of the car market. rent, but avoiding a bulky presentation. Viewed in profile, the dynamic roofline extends gracefully from the top of the windshield to the top panel of the tailgate, creating a well-defined fastback profile, far from the slightly skimpy look of many of the taller crossovers, while the rear overhang cleverly hides the length needed to accommodate the spacious 510-litre trunk. Aerodynamics have been optimized thanks to the fluid and clean roofline of the bodywork, resulting in a drag coefficient of CX 0.29, which also benefits range and fuel efficiency: the electric ë-C4 X thus achieves a range of 360 km in WLTP cycle.

The rear panel over the trunk, which unfolds to the rear bumper, is clean and elegant, integrating a soft spoiler at the top, over the subtle edges and Citroën lettering in the centre. The dashboard slopes slightly towards the front of the vehicle, which reinforces the prestigious look of the rear design and accentuates the energetic look.

The new characteristic LED taillights appear on either side of the trunk opening and take on sculpted lines when opened, inserting themselves into the corners and along the sides of the model. They end in the shape of an arrow in front of the tailgate, which further amplifies the dynamism of the profile.

Under the trunk opening, the rear bumper is sculpted, and the lower bumper skirt is finished in a matte black for added protection and durability. Glossy black inserts add detail and elegance, while distinctive exterior side vents recall the C5 Aircross's ruggedness.

Its large 690 mm wheels, combined with the small front overhang, give it an elevated stance, which induces a higher riding position, reassuring drivers with its placement on the road. The front shows Citroën's signature with a rounded design.
