Bavarian brand presented the GT4 version that will have FIA and SRO homologation
After launching the new M4 in the GT3 configuration last year, now the M division of the Bavarian brand has presented the GT4 version, which will receive FIA and SRO homologation to compete in the various championships open to this regulation. Cases of the DTM Trophy, the GT World Challenge USA, the 24h Series and the IMSA Michelin Challenge, among others. With the official presentation in the run-up to this SRO race weekend at Virginia International Raceway (USA), BMW M Motorsport has entered the sales phase of the new BMW M4 GT4, which will continue the series of successes of its predecessor in the GT4 category.
The racing car was shown in the BMW M Motorsport design for the first time last Friday after successfully completing a test run with its camouflage livery at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in Germany.
The new BMW M4 GT4 goes on sale with many technical innovations and at a price of 187,000 euros. Production will begin in October 2022 to allow the first units to reach teams in time for the start of the 2023 season.
The new BMW M4 GT4 is designed to win races and titles, just like its predecessor. To that end, the latest and greatest technologies from the production model have been combined with a range of components from its bigger brother, the BMW M4 GT3.
Engineers focused on four main areas: performance, reliability, profitability and economy. In addition, new developments in ergonomics and electronics have significantly improved the customer experience. These include the M Track Cockpit, which makes many adjustments and vehicle checks possible directly via the control elements, thus minimizing the connection to a more time-consuming laptop.
Under the hood is the well-known 6-cylinder in-line 3.0 TwinPower turbo engine, whose power reaches 550 hp. The block appears coupled to a ZF 7-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel controls. Which, by the way, is manufactured by Fanatec, a specialist in components for virtual motorsport.
