The Toyota GR Corolla promises to be an amazing hatchback. It won't go on sale until later this year, but AutoGuide.com has invited Toyota Formula Drift driver Ken Gushi to drive one to demonstrate the car's on- and off-road capabilities. However, Gushi decided to take it a step further, offering some essential running tips anyone can use when on the race track.
Gushi gives an in-depth look at some of the fundamentals of racing both on the track and on clay.
The new GR Corolla comes with all-wheel drive, giving the hatchback more agility than ever before. Gushi starts by talking about braking and cornering, demonstrating the difference between how a car behaves on asphalt and how it behaves off it. Gushi also provides an overview of how to brake correctly with your heel and toe and your left foot, which can cut precious seconds off your total lap time.
The Toyota GR Corolla has several significant improvements over the standard model. Under the hood is a 1.6-liter three-cylinder G16E-GTS turbo engine that produces 300 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted through a six-speed manual transmission with rpm adjustment. The hatchback's all-wheel drive system has selectable torque distribution settings.
Toyota is going beyond the Corolla engine upgrade to create a more powerful GR variant. The model is built on a modified version of the GA-C platform, but has been given additional spot welds and structural glue for greater rigidity of the entire structure. Toyota uses aluminum in the front doors and hood to keep the weight down.
Not long ago, our publication wrote that the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 experienced a spectacular body kit from Khann International. Khann International has introduced a wide body kit for the new Land Cruiser 300, adding another option to the long list of body kits available for the Japanese SUV.
